Happy valentine's day everyone.
Here is a simple do-it-yourself bracelet you can make for your partner right at the comfort of your home, trust me, it won't cost you much.
The shamballa bracelet is very quick and easy to make.
Materials needed:
1. Cord.
2. Scissors.
3. Ball beads with large holes
4. Tape
5. Glue/match box
The bracelet is made by tying a series of square knots around the central cord.
STEP 1: cut three lengths of the knotting cord using a scissors, cut about 25 inches long.
STEP 2: place the three cord on your work space and tape onto the surface to prevent it from moving.
Now you have 3 cords, cord 1 which is the right cord, cord 2 the central cord, and cord three the left cord.
The knots can be very intimidating when you try it for the first time, you can begin on either the right cord or the left cord, all you have to do is to alternate them.
STEP 3a: separate the three cord, pick up the right cord, and place it over the center cord, let it be under the left cord.
3b: then pick up the end of the left cord, pass it under the center cord, let it come out through the loop that was form in 3a, pull gently on the two ends and tighten.
3c: repeat 3a&3b, this time around, you wil
l be placing the left cord over the center cord, make sure it comes under the right cord.
Note: you have to alternate from one side to the other to keep your weaving straight.
Continue to make a few knots, you can make five to six knots before you start stringing your bead.
STEP 4: place one of your bead on the center cord, slide it up to the knots, and tie two knots after the bead to secure it in place.
continue to add your bead in that manner until you have your desired length.
STEP 5: At the last bead, continue with the square knots, to match the beginning square knot length.
STEP 6: take it off your work space, and trim off the loose ends (the right and the left cord) leaving the center cord, you can add a dab of a strong glue to the knot or burn off the loose ends yo secure your knot firmly.
STEP 7: You will need to create a sliding closure, to do this, you'll be using the same square knots, position the centre cords coming out from both ends together, facing each other.
Cut another cord, slide it under these cords and knot, continue to make the knots as you have done before (remember not to pull the knots too tight as the central cords will need room to move so that you can open and close the bracelet.
STEP 8: once you've tied around 8 to 10 knots, you're ready to finish off, trim off the loose ends and add a dab of Glue to the knot or burn off the loose end to secure the knot firmly.
STEP 9: slide a bead on the ends of each of the cords and simply tie a reef knots on each of the cords, cut off the excess cord and add a dab of glue to make it strong.
Yippee!!! The bracelet is ready.
You can even substitute the bead balls with alphabetical bead
